Best Colon Cleanse: Review of Top Colon Cleanse Products
We wanted find the best colon cleanse product on the market. With so many claims of about the best colon cleanser, we conducted an unbiased and objective review of the top products for a weight loss cleanse. We included one product that offers a “free trial” simply because you’ve probably seen their ads, or similar ads, and we thought you’d like to see a review of that as well. Before we get started, just a quick word about colon cleansing.
Colon cleansing is in the news, it’s on Oprah, Rachael Ray and online. It’s gained popularity because it can aid in weight loss and remove toxins from the body quickly. By losing weight and removing toxins, many hope common ailments will be cured, from acne to aching joints to impotence. Basically, many folks, maybe folks just like you, want to look better and feel better and want the best product at the best price.
We reviewed the ingredients, the company, customer support, the guarantee and of course, the price. The products reviewed are Dr. Floras, Oxy-Powder and Power Colon Cleanse. Why these three? We have some pretty high standards. Dr. Floras won #1 Reviewd Cleanse by CureYourBody.com. That’s a qualifier in our book. Oxy Powder was a “Winner of Distinction” by the Better Business Bureau for three years in a row. Power Colon Cleanse claims to be America’s #1 selling detox product. We’re not evaluating every “knock-off” product on the market, just the ones we feel are worthy of your consideration.
Dr. Floras is our run-away winner for a number of reasons including incredients, information available, customer service, guarantee and breadth of product line. Dr Floras offers an optional bowel regulator you can take prior to starting the colon cleanse. Once regular, stop the Bowel Regulator and begin the actual Colon Cleanse, which is a 15 day process. The Colon Cleanse is a powder that is mixed with water or apple juice. The Colon Clease can be taken as a stand alone product, but Dr Floras offers a complete system, called the “Ultimate Kit”, which we highly recommend. The Ultimate Kit consists of the following:

- Probiotics – This is a big plus.

The website states: ”The Colon Cleanse is doctor formulated and approved and uses patent-pending Psillimax™, a specially cut psyllium blend that is able to do what no other colon cleanse ingredient can, to break up and remove the toxic fecal matter that is likely built-up in your intestines.” Ingredients for the Cleanse Support, Probiotics, Parasite Defense and Bowel Regulator can be found at Dr Floras.com.
Company: Dr. Floras has an excellent reputation for delivering the best products available on the market. We not only recommend them, we tried them, and they work. We applaud Dr. Floras for their transparency in disclosing every incredient in every producut. Their website is by far the best we’ve found with an abundance of helpful and accurate information.
Customer Support: We called Dr. Floras to test the knowledge of their customer service staff and they were capable of answering the questions we asked that we think would be typical product questions. A live customer service representative answered the phone on the second ring and was ready to help with everything from product questions to checking our order status.
Guarantee: For one bottle, they offer a 365 day guarantee. However, if your order contains multiple bottles, there is only a 30 day guarantee from the ship date. We thought that was a bit strange. Only one opened bottle per order is allowed and there is a 20% restocking fee and you’ll need an RMA number. We’re not completely crazy about he guarantee, but for the industry we think it’s accpetable.
Price: Dr. Floras price for just the 15 day Colon Cleanse is $67 and discounts are offered for multiple bottles. No bogus “free trial offers”, no “buy 1 get 3 free” offers, just good pricing for an outstanding product. The Ultimate Kit $177, which we recommend as the best way to really achieve the results your after, including property restoring your disgestive system after the cleanse.
Oxy-Powder is from a company called Global Healing Center. It is a 7 day cleanse in pill form, which is convenient and easy to take as long as you don’t mind swallowing pills, a lot of them, up to 9 at a time! The capsules are taken before bed at night and during the day with organic apple cider vinegar. However, when you read the detailed instructions on the website, we found the cleanse is complicated and regimented which we think most people will not be able to achieve. Oxy-Power is sold as a stand alone product, but it can be followed with the following:
- Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse
- Parasite Cleanse
- Chemical and Heavy Metal Cleanse (we do no recommend the cleanse from this manufacturer)
The manufacturer recommends completing the colon cleanse first, followed by the above cleanses which are taken in combination with Oxy-Powder. We don’t know why you should have to do this since the colon should be clean after the colon cleanse. And the heavy metal cleanse uses foot pads which are unproven and controversial. It’s possible the discoloration of the pads is simply from a chemical reaction with your body and not from actually extracting toxins from your body.

- Germanium-132 (known to stimulate the immune system)
Unlike herbal cleanses, like Dr. Floras, where the mode of cleansing is easily understood (fiber binding to sludge in the colon and bentonite clay absorbing toxins) Oxy-Powder simply makes a claim that it melts away toxins and build up in the colon but how this happens is still unclear.
Company: Global Healing Center has the Better Business Bureau Winner of Distinction posted on their website for 2007, 2008 and 2009. The company also posts the product incredients and the product labels on their website. The founder is Dr. Edward Group and his background is included on the website. Clearly, this is a reputable company, but Dr. Group also uses scare tactics without backing them up. For example, Dr. Group states herbal cleansers are “dangerous products are made with psyllium or other bulking fibers, and binding agents like Marshmallow Root.” To say psyllium is dangerous is false. It’s in many safe products, even some breakfast cereals. For these tactics, the company receives a “B”.
Customer support: The company claims to have 24/7 customer support, but this is not the case. We called after hours and got and answering machine telling us to call back during normal business hours. When we finally spoke to customer service they were polite and helpful.
Guarantee: No gurantee offered. This is stated clearly. Fair enough.
Price: “Buy 3, get 1 free” is the promotion on the website for Oxy-Powder. The price for the 7 day cleanse is $44.95 with discounts for additional bottles. A 7 day cleanse is short, so you may need more than one bottle. For a 14 day cleanse, the price would be about $84, which is more expensive than Dr. Floras.
Power Colon Cleanse advertises a “30 Day Sample” and you only pay $3.95 shipping and handling. But when we read the fine print, the trial is only for 14 days so there is a very good chance you’ll miss the cut-off date to return the product. The offer is for a trial bottle, but the ad shows a bag, like a coffee bag, as if its a fiber that gets mixed with water or juice.

You will have a full 14 day free trial period from your original order date to decide if Power Colon Cleanse is right for you. Price: $79.95 is expensive for just a colon cleanse. Plus you’ll be billed every 30 days until you stop. A colon cleanse is not needed on such an on-going basis. We prefer to order product when we need it, which is one of the reasons we recommend Dr. Floras.
