Eat more fiber. No, it doesn't have to be one of those nasty powders or expensive concoctions... just eat more fruits, veggies, crackers, chips, cereal, pastas, breads, grains, etc. Sending more fiber through your digestive tract is basically what those expensive products do... they just use specific fibers. ;-) It's also a good idea to supplement with probiotics to help you keep regular and replenish anything that may have been pushed out.
