Natural Colon Cleansing Products

People are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of proper colon health. Supporters believe that a good colon cleansing can clear the body of harmful toxins, including undigested food and built-up fecal matter, as well as boost the immune system and remove parasites! Going to the doctor can be embarrassing as well as time consuming though, so most of us just avoid the issue. But there’s no need to visit the doctor; there are plenty of colon cleansing products you can use at home!

Don’t just start experimenting with colon cleansing products. You should first visit your doctor and discuss what option is best for you. Consulting with your doctor will help you to get the optimum benefits of whichever colon cleansing methods you choose.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed by all the colon cleansing products on the market. Basically, though, supplements and powders fall into two major categories. There are standard herbal supplements and cleansing kits. Herbal supplements are aimed at the general well-being of the digestive system, much in the way of a multivitamin or fiber substitute. Cleansing kits are usually a combination of herbs, meant to be taken in a series, that specifically target colon function. For example, a cleansing kit may have three bottles of herbal preparations to be used over a period of days or weeks.

Caution is necessary with herbal colon cleansing products. Herbs may be natural, but are not necessarily safe. To be sure you don’t fall victim to a scam, consult with your doctor before taking any herbs. Tell your doctor if you have any health problems or are taking any medication.

Enemas have a long, established history as a cleansing tool. Enema kits are readily available at most pharmacies. They work by introducing warm water from a bag or bottle into the rectum. This gently breaks up and removes any excess material left in the colon. An enema will only flush the low intestine, for a complete colon cleanse you would need to visit a specialist.

There are many supplements you can add to the enema solution that are supposed to help with the detox process. Treat these the same way you would any herb or drug, with caution. The intestines are designed to absorb, so anything you introduce via an enema will be introduced into your body’s systems.

Colonic irrigation boards are not as commonly known as the enema bag. This is probably because they do take a bit of commitment and are more expensive. The big payoff, however, is comfort. If you’re serious about colon health, it may be worth the investment. Basically it’s a table you lay on, supported at the end by your toilet, and at the head by a chair. This allows you to lie down during the irrigation. The waste is expelled directly into the toilet. Another benefit to the colonic boards is that they generally come with a 5 gallon tank so you can cleanse multiple times in one session.
